About Prestige Railings & Stairs

We design, build, install, and stand behind interior stairs and railings for homes across Calgary and Edmonton. Because we handle each stage, you deal directly with the team responsible for the work if any issues arise. We have been doing this since 1989.

Building Interior Stairs
and Railings Since 1989

Prestige was incorporated in Calgary in 1989. Our work has remained the same ever since: interior stairs and railings, custom-built for each house.

We began with traditional wood staircases and have since expanded to modern spiral, curved, and open-riser floating systems. Floating stairs are built with wood and metal components only, and support treads on visible side stringers rather than concealed or cantilevered supports. Today, we craft and combine railings from wood, glass, and metal to fit your vision.

Every staircase is custom-measured on-site before any material is cut. And because we mill all our wood components in our Calgary shop, we maintain quality control from start to finish.

A staircase is not a commodity ordered by the metre. It is typically the first feature visible upon entering a home, and it remains a focal point for years. Typically, we ask for at least three weeks’ notice once specifications and pricing are confirmed, which covers manufacturing the wood components, sourcing other materials, and booking the installation date.

Our Approach to Your Space

Errors in stair and railing projects often happen between measuring, building, and installing. We eliminate these gaps by using the exact same drawings and specifications across all of our teams.

Selecting Your Materials

We offer wood species such as Poplar, Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, Walnut, and Fir, or other species on request, to complement your home’s aesthetic. We match glass thickness, available in 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, and 20mm depending on the application, to the exact span needed. All metal components, including aluminum where suitable, are sourced from outside suppliers to our specifications.

We take responsibility for your project, from code-compliant design and Calgary-based wood milling to installation and final quality checks. We hand over our work ready for painting or staining, allowing your painting team to match the finish to your home’s existing trim, as we do not paint, stain, or refinish stairs and railings.

From Vision to Quality Check: How We Build

01

Consulting on Your Vision

We’ll meet in your home or at our Calgary or Edmonton showrooms to explore your space, style, and lifestyle.

02

Measuring On-Site

Before we begin crafting, we measure your physical space directly to ensure a custom fit.

03

Rendering in 3D

Choose your materials and finishes, and we’ll create detailed 3D renderings so you can see the final look before manufacturing.

04

Milling in Calgary

We mill all wood components in our Calgary shop, and source specialized glass and metal features from trusted local and outside suppliers.

05

Scheduling and Crafting

Once specifications and pricing are confirmed, we typically ask for at least three weeks’ notice to manufacture the parts and book the installation date.

06

Installing Your Project

Our subcontracted installation teams, the majority of whom are trained in-house, fit every component with care.

07

Prepping for Your Finish

We install your stairs and railings ready for custom painting or staining, so your painting team can match the finish to your home’s existing trim. Please note that we do not paint, stain, or refinish stairs and railings.

08

Inspecting Within 24 Hours

Our quality control team performs an inspection within 24 hours of installation to ensure it meets our standards, backed by a one-year guarantee and digital project records.

Installers Trained in Our Facility

Subcontracted teams carry out our installations. We train the majority of these teams in our own facility to ensure they build and install to our exact methods. This training ensures consistent quality from the shop to your home. The teams measuring, milling, and installing work from the same drawings and specifications.

COR Safety Certified and Associated with BILD Calgary

Prestige holds COR safety certification, which is the standard most construction sites require for safety prequalification. We are also associated with BILD Calgary.

Customer Showrooms in Calgary and Edmonton

Our Calgary location houses our head office and the manufacturing shop. Our Edmonton showroom is staffed by a branch manager, a salesman, a warehouse/service technician, and a roster of local installers, but does not have a manufacturing shop. All wood components are milled in Calgary and shipped to Edmonton for installation.

From both locations, we serve Calgary, Edmonton, and their surrounding areas, including Canmore. We have also previously completed projects in Fort McMurray.
